House Mouse and Friends - Special cuts

Hiya everyone,

I am a little late with this card (only about 10 minutes but still) as I've only just made it this morning.  I have had an awful week after taking one of my cats to the vet for blood tests on friday and on saturday morning my beloved Nan was rushed to hospital with a suspected stroke.  We visited her yesterday and she doesn't seem too bad as she can still move everything and talk but she is almost 88 so anything like this is such a huge worry.  As it was the weekend, there was no specialist on so we haven't really been told very much.  Hopefully we'll find out more today.  We also have an appointment at the vets to discuss my little Toba's liver problem so I've had that to worry about too all weekend!

Anyhoo, back to my card which is my DT card for the House Mouse and Friends Monday challenge which has just started today.  The theme today is "anything goes with special cuts" which can be shaped cut card, die cuts or something else!

I very quickly opted for a shaped card as I didn't have a lot of time and decided to use this gorgeous fish stamp that I've had ages and never used.  I thought I could give it to the father in law as he keeps Koi so I thought he'd like it!  The images has been coloured with a combo of promarkers and flexmarkers and the papers are from the "Isabelle" first edition paperstack.
We have some fab prizes up for grabs from our amazing sponsors so be sure to check it out!

3 fab House Mouse Stamps donated by Team Leader America

£10 gift voucher from Joanna Sheen

$10 Gift certificate

I will try and enter this into a few challenges later on.

Sending hugs......

Hiya everyone,

As I had a spare five minutes I thought I'd share the 3rd and final card entry into the Card Designer of the Year competition that I was runner up in (Simply cards and papercraft magazine).

The papers are from the Prima "birdsong" paperstack.  I decided against a stamped image so apart from a few dies and a stamping up notebook punch I only used the paperstack.  I made the envelope from cream vellum by first pulling apart a small envelope to use as a template.  It looked far nicer in the flesh but I suppose most cards do don't they?
I will enter this card into the following challenges:-

Tip top tuesdayLavishly lucious layers
Inky chicks - BINGO (Ribbon, sentiment, flowers)
Crafty bloggers network - Flowers
Kaboodle doodles - Ribbon
Make it monday - Always anything goes
Unstampabelles - Use one or more dies
Speedy and friends - Use twine
Catch the bug - BINGO (Twine, ribbon, starts with a "P" so punch)
Sugar creek hollow - TIC TAC TOE - Bling, ribbon, diecuts
Inspire me friday - Anything goes

Thanks for looking!

Wedding card - Wild Rose Studio

Hiya everyone,

I'm trying to actually find the time to blog the cards that I have been making as I have missed making and sharing them with you.  This is another of the new Wild Rose Studio "Love and Wedding" range that have just been launched.  This little cutie is called "Just married" and is soooo sweet.

I decided to go very light and natural with this so I used some paper from the man about town papers which are also by Wild Rose Studio.  I coloured the image in with my promarkers and flexmarkers as per usual.  It looks a bit wishy washy but I'm still using my camera on my phone which isn't ideal.

I only used a little lace, a couple of flourishes, some cream roses and a few pearls.  The sentiment is one of many old rubber wood backed stamps that I have.

I will enter this into the following challenge(s):-

4 crafty chicks - Pearls, pearls, pearls
Crafty ribbons - Love/romance/anniversary
Craft us crazy - Celebrate love and/or the colour red
Sarah Hurley challenge - Celebrate
Aud Sentiments - BINGO (happy/die cut/flowers)
Penny's paper crafty - Teddy bears

New Wild Rose Studio stamps

Hiya Everyone,

Right I have been busy, busy back in my craft room making lots of new samples with the new Love & Wedding stamps from Wild Rose Studio - they are gorgeous.

This one I have made with the cute mice (Mice with balloons) which are adorable and I have coloured the image with my promarkers and flexmarkers.  I made this with a man in mind so I avoided using flowers and anything too girly.  The papers are from the Wild Rose Studio "Man about town" set.

The piccie isn't very good as I've still not found my camera so I'm still using my phone! :(

I will be back soon sharing the rest of my samples soon!

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:-

Simon says stamp - Black and white with a splash of colour
Craft room challenge - Valentines
There she goes - Love is in the air
Penny Black and more - Love is in the air

New beginnings - House Mouse and Friends

Hiya everyone,

After several weeks off from the House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge I am now back for the very first challenge of 2013 which is

New Beginnings
We have some fab sponsors this week which are:-

$25 gift voucher
$25 gift voucher
 HM Stamps
$10 gift voucher

$10 gift voucher

Christine is also offering a Joanna Sheen unmounted stamp set

So there are lots of fab prizes up for grabs!!!

The stamp I have used is called "Balloon ride" which was sent to me by my awesome DT leader America.  My interpretation of the theme is more of a try and you'll get there inspirational kind of thing rather than new job etc.  We had the same theme at the Joanna Sheen blog and I'd already made a new baby card so I thought this seemed appropriate.  I have coloured the image in with my promarkers and flexmarkers and I layered it slightly for a bit of added depth.  The papers used are from the Prima "Tea thyme" paperstack.

You will see a lot of this quickcutz fancy corner die as I bought it about 8 or 9 months ago but then lost it in my craft room.  For the majority of my pregnancy I barely crafted so I was delighted to find it when I had a HUGE tidy out in there last week.

Apologies for the not-so-good piccies.  I've not seen my camera since Christmas day so I'm having to use my phone till it turns up - Oops!

I am so relieved to be back in my craft room and have lots of new Wild Rose Studio samples to share with you all over the next week or two so keep your eyes peeled!

Thanks so much for all your comments......they really do mean a lot and although I don't get a lot of time to return the compliment as it takes me all my time to keep my own blog up to date I do often have a wee nosey.

Hugs

New Beginnings - Joanna Sheen Challenge

Hiya everyone,

This is our first new challenge for 2013 at the Joanna Sheen Challenge blog so it seemed fitting to have a "New beginnings" theme.  It seems like a lot of other challenges have decided on a similar theme.

My card has been made using the House Mouse stamp "Cosy toes" which is available here.  I have coloured in my image with a mixture of promarkers and flexmarkers.
The washing line paper is from my DCWV boy "Nana's nursery" stack which I love.  I decided to go a little clean and simple with this one as my House Mouse challenge card for tomorrows challenge was quite busy so I thought I'd mix it up a bit.  As this was quite striking I decided to just use my swiss dots embossing folder on some plain white card for the rest of it to add some texture.  I do love my embossing folders - I have lots but swiss dots is probably the one I use the most.

This is the first card I've made for the Joanna sheen challenge as I had several months off crafting as I had Nathan at the end of October.  This is a recent piccie of him when he started smiling - what a little cutie!  I'm very biassed! Lol

Chocolate box card

Hiya everyone,

I had a spare few minutes so I thought I'd share another of the cards that I entered into the Card Designer of the Year competition.  I decided I wanted to make a chocolate themed card and this was what I came up with!

It is a twisted easel card with a built up base.  The base is about 1.5cm thick and is basically the kind of box I make to put a 3D card in but I made the easel card around it.  I made some dividers for the bottom and cut a square aperture in the top.  I then cut 3 small circles, 3 scalloped circles and 3 squares which I rounded the corners on.  I then decorated these shapes to look like chocolates.  The ones I liked best I placed inside the box where there would be visible when it was open.  Some nice chocolate ribbon and bow keeps the easel upright as I didn't want to cover up the chocolates too much.  It took a while to get it to look right as I was making it up as I went along.

I used a gorgeous Bo Bunny 6x6 paperstack called crazy love and apart from the Martha Stewart heart border punch, I didn't really use a lot else.   I even used the heart border punch to make some pretty corners The sentiment I printed out myself and I went over it with sakura clear glaze pen although you can't tell this from the piccie.  This looks a lot better in the flesh and was really pleased with the way it turned out considering I didn't really have a clue what I was doing!

The above piccie shows the matching box and tag for the card to go in.  I was in such a rush to send my cards off that I'm afraid to say that these were the best piccies I took which is a shame.

I will share the 3rd card with you too at some point!

Thanks for looking!

Card Designer of the Year Competition!!!

Hiya everyone,

I have some fab news that I can finally announce - I was runner up in the Card designer of the Year competition ran by Simply Cards and Papercrafts magazine.  I was really surprised to place as I was 8 and a half months pregnant when I made my entries and very nearly didn't bother as I'd not made much for ages.

This is 1 of  3 of my entries and the first I made.  The image is by Mo Manning and is called "Not even a mouse" and is available here.  I printed the image out about 7 times and cut out various layers before colouring them in with my promarkers/flexmarkers.  This was very fiddly but it was worth it as it really "popped" off the card!  I kept the rest of the card relatively simple as I wanted the image to really stand out.

The papers are from the Papermania Silent Night A4 stack which I really love for the rich traditional colours.  I liked it so much I bought 3 pads when it came out which is a while ago now!

I have used a LOTV Christmas round sentiment and my Martha Stewart holly border punch and my new(ish) Tim Holtz weathered clock die.

I will share the other 2 cards with you shortly.

My Joanna Sheen Teamie Lexi was also a runner up in the competition too!  What a small world!

December blog candy winner

Hiya everyone,

I'm hoping that you all had a fab Christmas and saw the New Year in without too much of a hangover! Lol

As much as I enjoyed myself I am looking forward to getting back to normal.  We've already took the tree down as it was quite big and we wouldn't have had enough room for everybody that we had round on New Years Eve so we didn't really have a choice.

I have just finished some cards for Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine so I am getting back making cards again after several months off.  Coming up shortly are new challenges for both the Joanna Sheen and the House Mouse challenge so I need to make some cards for them.

Anyhoo, the reason for my post is to announce the winner of my December candy which is:-

Congratulations Christine!  Please e-mail me on cheeky_monkey_24@hotmail.com to claim your prize!

I will post my January candy in the next few days!

Thanks for looking!
